mIRC - IRC Chat Client Software

mIRC is one of the most popular irc clients out there. For seasoned mIRC users, our server settings are as follows: -

Server: - irc.surrealchat.co.uk Port: - 6667. If you have a standard edition of mIRC installed, click the logo to connect -

If you have never used mIRC before, below is a little background and tutorial to help you set up the program.

Although seemingly complex, it is in fact remarkably simple to install and use. If you do not posess a copy of mIRC, you can download it from here. Click the link, save the file to your hard drive and when downloaded, double click the file to unzip it and follow the prompts on screen to install mIRC to a folder on your computer. When completed, open the folder and double click the mIRC icon. You will now see mIRC running. You will now see a screen called 'mIRC Options' where you can put in your details. You should only need to put in your desired nickname Full name (needent be your actual name) and email address; and click 'connect to server' button and you will join SurrealChat and instantly join our #Reception channel where someone will available if you need any help! If you cannot connect to the server, below are some screen shots of the settings you may need to enter. It should only take 5 minutes or so to complete the whole of the mIRC installation, setup and connect to our server and chat!

Step 1.

In this first stage of configuration you wil put in your details. In the Full Name box, you can put anything you like in reality. You do not need to put your real name.

In the email box, again, you do not have to put your real email address, but you do need the @ sign in place.

In the Nickname box, put your desired nickname.

Once you have done these three steps, click on 'Servers' at the left of your mIRC Options panel.

This will open another window as shown in the next step.

Step 2.

In the second stage we will enter the Surreal Chat server details.

In the description box, type Surreal Chat

In the IRC Server box type irc.surrealchat.co.uk

The Port(s) box will alreadt contain 6667 and should not be altered.

Now click the 'Add' button and the small panel will close.

Now you will see the screen has a 'Connect To Server' button. Simply click that one and you will join Surreal Chat server. Once there, type /list and choose a room to enter by simply double clicking its name. Enjoy!!!!
