Welcome to the Surreal Chat rules page.

Whilst we fully encourage free flowing and open chat, there have to be a few simple rules that must be adhered to. Most of the rules are based on common sense and chat etiquette and are not draconian. However, breach of these rules will result in one or more restrictions on your usage of this server. Basically, the penalties are as follows: - 1st infringement will result in a channel Moderator warning you do stop doing whatever it is. 2nd infringement will invoke a second warning. 3rd instance of misconduct will result in you being 'kicked' from the channel - you will always be given a reason as to why you are kicked and at this stage you can rejoin the channel immediately. If you then continue to break the rules, you will be banned from the channel for a short period of time. You will not be banned from the server unless it is a case of extreme misconduct and this will be investigated by a Server Administrator. Joining the server implies that you have read and accepted these rules fully.

1. You must be 16 years of age or over to join the Surreal Chat service. If found to be under 16, we will have to ask you to leave.

2. Instances of racial abuse/incitement will under no circumstances be tolerated and will result in an instant server ban.

3. Threats of violence and personal harassment (or worse) will not be tolerated and will result in an instant server ban.

4. Chat and/or links of a pornographic nature are not permitted. Smutty jokes are fine though!

5. Persistent 'heavy' and repeated flooding in excess of 10 lines of typing should be avoided.

6. Extreme swearing is to be avoided. There are 18+ rooms where swearing is acceptable.

7. Certain channels (rooms) will have their own particular set of rules in addition to these. They should be adhered to.

8. Users of this server agree not to advertise it on other IRC Chat Servers, where it may be forbidden to do so. If you use a server where advertising is
permitted, by all means do so. Anyone found advertising this server where is it not permitted, will be subject to a server ban.
You may however, advertise other chat networks and any websites on this server. We positively encourage such advertising, so long as it is not 'overdone'.

9. If you wish to open your own 'Channel' (Room), please contact Admin staff in the first instance. Unauthorised Channels will be deleted.

10. (The most important rule ...) Enjoy yourselves or you will get ya ass booted out! :oP

If whilst using our server you feel you have been unfairly treated, please try to settle the matter amicably with the room Moderator. If this is not possible, you are asked to email the Surreal Admin Staff at this address: - surreal@surrealchat.co.uk stating your username, brief description of the problem and the relevant log from the chatroom. All complaints will be thoroughly investigated and appropriate action taken.
